Cost: a pay-it-forward* donation of any amount to the Co-Intelligence Institute

We will explore:

What could make a real difference
for resilience and sustainability
in the Eugene area
and the Cascadia bioregion?

Bring your ideas, questions and projects about local resilience and sustainability to our Open Space Conference March 31.

This will NOT be your ordinary conference. Open Space events like this are participatory and self-organizing: YOU will make it the exciting gathering it will be. There will be no official speakers and no predetermined workshops or panels. Anyone who wants to create a session for any topic related to the question above will announce it in the first 30-45 minutes. Then we’ll just get on with it. We’ll be all together at the start and the finish – but in the middle we’ll each be doing exactly what we really want to be doing. And it will probably add up to something amazing.

Come to learn, share, explore, collaborate or organize around whatever has heart and meaning for you. We can make breakthroughs together because our diverse passions, group knowledge, meaningful conversations and new collaborations will make us far more smart and effective together than we are separately.

But this is important: Only attend if community resilience and sustainability are important issues for you. You may have more questions than answers – or more answers than questions – but it is your passion that counts here. This conference will ONLY succeed because of your energy and the energy of everyone else who comes. The participants will make this the thrilling event it is going to be.

SO please come if you find yourself thinking about things like…

• building local food systems…
• launching community currencies or credit clearing systems…
• nurturing the expansion of gift economies…
• developing peer-to-peer sharing and barter systems…
• strengthening your community’s “buy local” dynamics…
• promoting sustainable, sensible transportation systems…
• advancing local energy systems, local manufacturing, local entertainment, local celebrations…
• nurturing stronger relations among neighbors…
• reaching beyond the choir through media, community leaders, demonstrations, the arts, occupations…
• developing indicators of community well-being…
• bringing more heart, spirit, feeling, movement and vitality to sustainability activities…
• catalyzing conversations about how to get our needs met and live richer, more enjoyable lives without money…
• any other activity, idea or question that could strengthen the sovereignty, sustainability and vitality of our cities and towns…

Do you find yourself excited about things on this list? Then come to this Open Space conference March 31. We need you. We need each other. Your interest, your knowledge, your questions could make all the difference. And we need to make a real difference soon…

* Your participation in this event has been paid for by prior donors to the Co-Intelligence Institute. Instead of paying us back for a service rendered, you may pay it forward to help us to provide such services to others. If you wish to pay it forward, you may do it online or at the event.

3/11 : The Revolution is Love: A Transition Activist Intensive with Charles Eisenstein

“I consider Charles Eisenstein one of the up-and-coming great minds of our time. Rarely have I met a person who combines such philosophical and spiritual depth with such practical insights into the cultural and institutional origins of the potentially terminal dysfunctions of modern society – and the potential solutions.” – David Korten, author of The Great Turning and The Post-Corporate World

On Sunday, March 11, Unifying Cascadia and its partner organizations proudly host The Revolution is Love: A Transition Activist Intensive with Charles Eisenstein from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the WOW Hall.

Discover economics as if people and nature really mattered — enlightened economics that knows we are all connected. Join Charles Eisenstein – acclaimed author, teacher and speaker — for a day-long intensive workshop to explore activism in a time of profound transition.

Our world is facing a series of deepening challenges in 2012: economic crisis, ecosystem collapse, water and soil depletion, and a shrinking supply of cheap energy. These challenges will require new ways of thinking, and a whole new paradigm of activism and leadership.

In this workshop you will realize a new level of confidence, commitment, and effectiveness in what you are already doing — an approach that doesn’t depend on trying harder, but is a natural evolution. This daylong event is a hands-on exploration of becoming more effective as change agents. It is also about reuniting the long-sundered realms of the activist and the spiritual practitioner.

This workshop will explore: The psychodynamics of transition; The rebirth of community; Activism in an age of social and ecological healing; A Leader as “one who holds the story of what is to be.”

Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Jack Arnold, a participant in Charles’ intensive workshop in Baltimore on January 28, called it, “Possibly, probably, definitely the most, bestest, day for allowing me to bring together the many ‘mes’ in my head I’ve ever experienced.”

In keeping with gift principles, cost is self determined. A $25 registration deposit is required. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will be welcomed to give more according to your level of ability and gratitude, or your deposit may be refunded in whole or part if you wish. You must attend the full workshop to be eligible for a refund. Preregistration is required.

In addition to the workshop, Charles will speak on Saturday March 10, from 7:00 -10:00 pm at Columbia 150, U. of O. campus. Cost: You decide – sliding scale of $5-20 or any other amount that feels right and fair to you. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Charles is also doing book talks in Portland 3/7, Corvallis 3/8 and Ashland 3/9. Activists in all four towns are coming together to explore how to further a regional vision of greater vitality, resilience and interdependence in all our communities.

Charles Eisenstein is being sponsored and promoted by Unifying Cascadia, Eugene City of Peace, Survival Center, Co-Intelligence Institute, Emerald Valley Time Exchange along with other organizations in Portland, Corvallis and Ashland.
